Smoking Cessation
Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide, and stopping smoking will reduce all risks of dying from diseases related to tobacco such as heart disease and cancer. Statistics showed that 70% of smokers wish to quit and 50% tried within the past year.
Smoking cessation service provides expert advice, support and encouragement to help people and pregnant women through their quit attempt. Studies showed that people are 4 times more likely to quit with help. During the first session, 1-2 weeks before the quit date, we will record all personal information and measure the levels of carbon monoxide in your body (the CO level) using a carbon monoxide monitor. Using cognitive behavior therapy and motivational interviewing, we will motivate the patient, support him and provide practical tools to deal with cravings. We might use nicotine replacement products such as patches and gums.
In parallel, we will make sure to provide a healthy lifestyle to prevent weight gain which might be a cause of relapse.
Furthermore, for people who wish to combine therapies, we might work in collaboration with the acupuncturist.
